Each scarf begins as an original painting inspired by moments in nature that invite reflection, the joy of discovery and that special connection with something beyond our senses.
Why I Create Scarves
"I've always loved scarves. Over time, I've built a collection (an entire closet full!), and I still enjoy discovering beautifully made, one-of-a-kind pieces. To me, a scarf is more than an accessory, it's a small work of art that brings beauty to everyday life."
Why Silk
"Over the years, I experimented with printing my artwork on various fabrics, but I always come back to silk. There's something ethereal about it, and my painting style feels perfectly at home on its luminous surface. Silk Charmeuse is my 'queen of silks', and I fell in love with it the moment I saw my artwork printed on it."
What Inspires Me
"Animals, and birds in particular, teach me new ways of seeing the world. I strive to capture not only their beauty, but also their energy and their unique spirit.
"Hummingbirds, for example, inspire me with their remarkable resilience. Despite their tiny size, they carry the energy to journey across continents year after year."
The final creation imprinted on silk becomes a work of love, a work of art ready to be cherished.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Andreea Dumez (DuMée) is an artist living in Portsmouth, NH. She graduated in 2003 with a B.A. in Fine Art from the National University of Arts UNARTE in Bucharest, and earned a B.Sc. in Pharmacy in 2006 from the Carol Davila University in Bucharest, Romania.
Her works have been juried in prestigious regional shows and museums, and she frequently exhibits her paintings in galleries along the Seacoast. She is a juried member of the New Hampshire Art Association, as well as Kittery Art Association and Newburyport Art Association.
In the past, she also worked on fabric pattern designs, as well as book illustrations. Nowadays, she focuses on bringing her vision on expressive surfaces, such as canvas, paper and, yes--silk.
Her vibrant and unique works seek to inspire those who are in touch with nature, collectors searching for their inner colors and a spiritual meaning in their lives.
When not in her studio, Andreea enjoys hiking, birdwatching, gardening, or taking long walks along the seashore.
