WHY BLUEBIRDS?
There is something magical about them.
Their brilliantly colored feathers captivate me. I love blue, in all its nuances, but "bluebird-blue" is incredibly pure, noble and enchanting.
I painted numerous bluebirds (Eastern bluebirds) throughout the years, and I don't think I will ever get tired of studying them.
I find a great sense of serenity whenever I spot them in my backyard. It's as if the universe tells me: "everything will be alright."
The four paintings I chose for this collection carry symbolic meanings. As I quietly observe the wildlife in my backyard, my mind connects to this vast universe in mysterious ways.

Genesis
This painting evolved on its own. I let the fluid colors guide my inspiration, and when all the tones bloomed and settled, I saw a nest, I saw the loving care of a mother bird, and her feathers shone in wondrous lapis-blue. I called this work "Genesis", because it truly was a place where inspiration was born as a spontaneous act.

This painting started as a small study of a bird in motion. The bluebird is flapping its wings while skidding on an icy slope, keeping an elegant balance. It reminds me that life is a balancing act that requires our full energy, but we can still manage it in style. :)

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Andreea Dumez (Dumeé) is an artist living in Portsmouth, NH. She graduated in 2003 with a B.A. in Fine Art from the National University of Arts UNARTE in Bucharest, and earned a B.Sc. in Pharmacy in 2006 from the Carol Davila University in Bucharest, Romania.
Her works have been juried in prestigious regional shows and museums, and she frequently exhibits her paintings in galleries along the Seacoast. She is a juried member of the New Hampshire Art Association, as well as Kittery Art Association and Newburyport Art Association.
In the past, she has also illustrated and designed children’s books and poetry books. Nowadays, she focuses on canvas works, creating expressive art in acrylic, or oil.
Her vibrant and unique works seek to inspire those who are in touch with nature, collectors searching for their inner colors and a spiritual meaning in their lives.
When not in her studio, Andreea enjoys hiking, birdwatching, gardening, or taking long walks along the seashore.
