Moths symbolize transformation, spiritual change and intuition. In popular beliefs, they are viewed as messengers from beyond. The Emperor Moth, with its large eye patterns, represents a silent watcher, a peaceful witness of mystical endeavors. In ancient cultures, these beautiful moths were thought to be the children of the Moon.
The story behind
Do you believe in synchronicity? Here's a curious story that happened to me a few weeks into painting moths... (and I will put this story on every one of my moth art pages, because I feel there is something beyond my human understanding that connected me to these ethereal creatures).
One evening, I thought a tiny hummingbird had entered my house. The shadow fluttered silently toward one of my ceiling lamps, so I quickly recognized the intruder: a moth, a couple of inches large, with beautiful brown patterns.
As I chased it for a minute or so until I caught it under a cup and brought it back outside, I chuckled thinking that I've never seen a moth so big in my house, or outside my house for that matter. Also, I had just started painting moths for a scarf project a couple of weeks before. So you can imagine, I had been already diligently researching the many colorful moths of Earth.
A few days later... again, another moth. A smaller one, a different color. This time, I looked it up -- it's called the "Orange Underwing Moth" and it looks just like the description.
In the following weeks, lo and behold, moths of all sizes began visiting me... I felt as if the universe was telling me to keep painting them! I even told my husband so. But the story was not over.
The month of August came with a traveler guest that totally blew my mind! One morning, my husband, already in on our running joke that I was the Moth Lady now, beckoned me to check out something outside.
Right outside, on the door screen, the biggest moth I have ever seen was chilling out, wings wide open... Its wings were rather tattered at the edges, a sign that this moth had seen a lot and traveled from afar.
Of course I took lots of pictures, and then began wondering what kind of moth would be the size of a palm (I am absolutely not exaggerating!). It measured seven inches across. My phone image info suggested I check out "Black Witch Moth". Indeed, the winged visitor was a female Black Witch. She had traveled all the way from South America, to deliver me a special message.
Ever since, when I gaze outside at the moon, I imagine a new painting, a new friend visiting my canvas and whispering the story of its moonlit travels.

Each print is hand-signed and titled by the artist. The distinctive monogrammed signature of the artist is also embedded in the art print.

ART PRINTS:
- Large paper giclee prints will be shipped rolled in a tube, for a safer transportation.
- Printing time varies between 7-10 business days (may take 1-2 days longer around holidays). If item is framed, time might be longer, also depending on the stock availability of the frame.
- Estimated shipping time in USA: 5-14 days (upgrade available for Express 2-day shipping)
- International transit usually averages 2 - 4 weeks but can take longer in some instances if delayed in customs. The destination country may require you to pay custom fees or VAT (Value Added Tax), which is determined by that country.
- Because quality is important to us and our printing partner, all packages and their contents are inspected prior to shipment. If at any point during production, your print does not meet our quality standards, the print is re-printed. This can occasionally cause a minor delay. Other exceptions include situations such as custom orders (special orders for printing not listed on this site), orders which have a high quantity of prints which require some sort of mounting, and orders during the Holidays.
ORIGINAL ART:
- Processing time: 1-5 business days for readily available paintings; 2 weeks- 2 months for custom orders, such as pet portraits.
- Paintings are shipped wrapped in glassine paper, then protected by bubble wrap and hardboard.
- Estimated shipping time in USA: 5-14 days (upgrade available for Express 2-day shipping)
- International transit usually averages 2 – 4 weeks. The destination country may require you to pay custom fees or VAT (Value Added Tax), which is determined by that country.
SCARVES:
- Processing time: 4-6 weeks (scarves are pre-orders, due to the special process of printing).

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to return it.

Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. We'll pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.)

Cancellations
Request a cancellation within: 2 hours of purchase. Please contact us directly at andy@andreeadumez.com in order to cancel the transaction and refund you.
Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right for you.
Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like custom products (such as special orders or personalized items) or digital downloads. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
We do not accept returns on gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return.
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of mailing back your package. However, in many cases, the refund will arrive more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
